Active Asset Management and Optimisation
At NS Generation, we partner with our clients to deliver optimal outcomes by leveraging our deep insights into the UK power and gas markets. Our expertise in managing flexible, distributed generation assets enables us to design bespoke trading strategies tailored to each client’s assets.
We maintain a constant market presence, ensuring your assets are positioned optimally by considering key factors such as prevailing market conditions, risk exposure, asset life cycles, commodity prices, and taxes.
Our bespoke trading strategies ensure active management and optimisation of assets through key services such as:
Balancing Markets and Balancing Mechanism (BM)
We enable our clients to benefit from our extensive experience in participating in National Grid “auction markets”.
NS Generation provides clients direct and transparent access to Balancing Markets and the BM, taking advantage of what the market provides throughout the day.
We eliminate the “smoke and mirrors” and opaque percentage pass-throughs, as trusted partners should. Our clients have full visibility on strategy and delivered prices at all times by contracting directly with National Grid while taking on the operational and administrative burden on our clients’ behalf.
Capacity Market (CM) participation
Since 2014, NS Generation has represented clients through the full-capacity market cycle, ensuring the best outcomes in T-4 and T-1 auctions. We provide support from pre-qualification, auction, submission of bonds, and all through the implementation, testing, compliance and proving performance.
Ancillary Services
We monitor existing ancillary services as the grid and regulatory environments evolve, and rapidly evaluate new services before they go live in the market. This allows the assets we manage to always be matched to the appropriate ancillary markets and to be considered in the overall optimisation of trading.
These markets include (but are not limited to):
- Firm Frequency Response (FFR)
- Fast Reserve
- STOR (Short Term Operating Reserve)
